![]() ![]() It's difficult to frame all my thoughts in a short review, but the best way I can describe it is that it just didn't feel realistic. ![]() ![]() I wish this focused more on their internal recovery rather than trying to solve other people's problems, because the book was quickly drowned in too much action in a short span of time. It's nice to read a book that isn't really a coming-out story, so to see the main character so sure in themself was nice. I loved Alexis/Aleks's voice, and I especially thought their relationship with their mom and dad was sweet. But in the end, I think it attempted to confront a topic far too massive to fit within a 250-page book. I loved this book as a commentary on being bigender, recovering from sexual assault, and pointing out the hypocrisy in some church leadership. *Disclaimer: the author and I are friends, but thoughts are my own. ![]()
